William H. Shea, a member of the Greatest Generation, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 26th. He was a kind and generous man, who was larger than life, with a quick wit and a tremendous sense of humor. He will be forever missed by those who so dearly loved him.
Faithful and devoted husband of Calista for over 66 years; loving father to William, Jr. (Gabriela), Debbie Fox, Sandy, Denis (Connie), Kevin (Laura), Pam, Nancy Solomon (Frank), Patrice O'Malley (Kevin); loving grandfather of Corin, Crista, Bill, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Brenton and Jillian. Predeceased by his parents, William and Mae Shea, and brother Gerald, who was killed in WWII on the USS Franklin, grandson, Nick Shea, and son-in-law, Charlie Fox.
Bill was born and raised in San Francisco. He graduated from St. Agnes Grammar School ('37), St. Ignatius High School ('41), and the University of San Francisco ('49). He was an Army veteran of WWII. Bill was the owner of Shea & Co., an accounting firm, for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Name Parish for 76 years, an active member of the Holy Name Father's Club, Geneva Excelsior Lions Club, Native Sons of the Golden West, the "Over the Hill Gang" and a former member of the California Golf Club.
Bill was a devoted sports fan all his life and an avid golfer. One of his last wishes was to play "one more round"!
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 7th at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1555 39th Ave, San Francisco. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a short Rosary prior to the Mass.
