Jose was born in 1950 to Jose Aguilar Sr. and Rosa Escobar Melendez in San Salvador, El Salvador. He died Oct. 16, 2016 at the age of 66. Jose had been sick for about two years. He fought a good battle to live as long as he could to be with his wife, two sons, and three grandchildren. His illness did not take him, but a condition he was unaware of called Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM). He had gone to the hospital for an MRI and within 30 minutes was in a coma because of bleeding on the brain.
He arrived in the USA in 1952 with his mother thru the port of New Orleans and on to San Francisco bay area where he lived his whole life. He went to St. Vincent School for Boys in San Rafael from second to eighth grades. It would remain a special place to him. He went to St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco where he made friendships that lasted his whole life. He would go on the graduate from USF and USF Law School. During college he worked for City of Daly City engineering dept. and then as administrative assistant to the City Manager. While still in law school he worked at La Raza Centro Legal. After graduation he went on to work at Mission Community Legal Defense serving low income clientele. He was a state attorney at the CA Dept. of Insurance for 24 years until he retired because of health reasons. He faithfully attended Holy Angels Church in Colma where he also had served on the parish council. He served on several other boards of community and legal organizations including the Northern CA Service League.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Celia. He is also survived by two sons, Ismael with wife Quynh and Daniel with wife Miranda. He adored his grandchildren, Lucas, Zoe, and Nathaniel. He will be missed by many other family members and life-long friends.
There will be a funeral vigil with rosary on Thursday October 27th at 7:00 PM at Duggan's Serra Mortuary 500 Westlake Ave. Daly City. Funeral mass of Christian burial will be on Friday October 28th at 9:30 AM at Holy Angels Parish Church 107 San Pedro Rd. Colma. Committal Italian Cemetery.
