Noel J. Dyer '32

Noel Dyer, a fourth generation San Franciscan, died on July 22,2016 at the age of 102. He was born at home on Christmas Day,1913. He attended Mission Dolores School and St. Ignatius High School and the University of San Francisco where he graduated Magnum cum Laude and as valedictorian. He attended USF Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1939, and after a brief career as a general practice lawyer he was hired by Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro. After Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the Navy as a 1st Lieutenant and served as a naval lawyer.

Following the war Noel returned to San Francisco as an Associate with PM&S. He rose to become a partner and senior litigator at the firm acting as defense counsel before Federal and State Courts and Commissions and other Regulatory Agencies representing some of the largest corporations at the time. He was a past President of the USF Law Society and a member of the Board of Counsellors, and a longtime member of the Olympic Club and Bohemian Club.

He married his longtime sweetheart, Eleanor O'Brien in 1939 and they were married for nearly 75 years before her passing in 2014. He is survived by his sons Paul(Saskia) and Larry(Lin), 4 grandchildren, Nellie, James, Margaret and Mike and 3 great-grandchildren, Milo, Mason and Eleanor; he also is survived by a couple generations of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass at St. Ignatius and Interment at Holy Cross were held Friday, July 29, 2016.
