September 4, 1928 – February 9, 2017

Resident of Walnut Creek, CA

Jack Galvin passed away at the age of 88, at home with his family, on February 9, 2017. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan, his six children, Theresa (Gary) Almeda, Eileen (Ron) Cox, Pat (Diane) Galvin, John Galvin, Joanne Galvin, and Mary (Mike) Vigo, his twelve grandchildren, and one great grandson. His death was preceded by his brother Dan Galvin.

Jack was born in San Francisco and attended St. Ignatius HS and St. Mary's College. He lived in San Leandro for 40 years before retiring to Walnut Creek. Jack worked at EBMUD for 35 years, starting his career as a field recorder and retiring as an Assistant Area Supervisor. To support his growing family, he often worked side jobs including 40 years at the Alameda County Fair, 20 years with the Oakland Raiders, 38 years with the St. Mary's College ticket department, and many others. He was always so proud when his children would join him for evening and weekend work. Similarly, his kids were excited about these opportunities as they knew there would likely be ice cream following the shift. Jack was extremely hard-working and provided well for his family. He was so impressed by his kids and grandkids and often wore their high school and college regalia with pride, anxious for the opportunity to share their accomplishments. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church on Friday, February 24 at 10:30 AM, 1600 Rossmoor Parkway, Walnut Creek, CA 94595. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association .
